Do you hate having to do your laundry? Does the thought of cleaning your clothes make you cringe and die a little bit inside? Don’t worry, you aren’t the only who has struggled to find any motivation to get your clothes clean. As a matter of fact over 30% of Singapore residents have admitted to hating their laundry day.
Here’s a few reason’s why you hate doing this chore and a few suggestions on how to deal with it.
1. It’s boring
Repetitive tasks tend to become tedious after a while. This is due to the lack of variation in the tasks that are being carried out. It’s basically the same procedure since you can remember.
This is the reason I always have a podcast or an album playing in the background while I clean my clothes. Not only does it distract me from my boredom but I also get some time to catch up with the latest in entertainment.
Do you know any other fun activities you can carry out while cleaning your clothes?
2. You don’t think its of any value
You’ve become accustomed to always having clean clothes and have never had to go through a week repeating the same clothes. You’ve become entitled and believe that having the opportunity to clean your clothes isn’t a blessing.
Why don’t you ignore your chores for a week? What could go wrong if you didn’t wash the clothes for a few days?
Well, you’ll probably get asked to have a chat with Human Resources for coming into work in dirty clothes. Or maybe some of your friends will start avoiding you in fear of having to sit next to your reeking clothes.
Getting a new perspective on clean clothes will definitely get you fired up
3. You have no discipline
Laziness is all down to lack of will power and discipline. You can spend hours on end playing video games but can’t spare two hours of your day to clean a few t-shirts.
Unfortunately laziness isn’t something that has a quick fix, you have to find discipline. You have to find the time and energy to keep your clothes clean even when you aren’t in the mood.
4. You don’t have enough time
You have better things to do with your time. Maybe you are a busy career person or an enterprenuer who can’t find the time to do their laundry. I can’t blame you for being busy, get that money!
What I would suggest is that you either purchase a modern dry cleaning machine that takes minutes or you hire a cleaning professional to handle all your chores.
Being busy doesn’t guarantee that you are being productive. Don’t waste time on Youtube and lie to yourself that you are too busy working to clean a few clothes.
5. You are bad at it
Admit it, you are absolutely terrible at cleaning your clothes. You can barely separate whites from colored clothes let alone remove a stain from your favorite t shirt. If washing clothes was a sport you’d always end up last or probably get disqualified before the game began.
The only solution to this predicament is to ask for help and commit yourself to getting better at it. If none of your friends or family wants to help you get better then I’d suggest you start watching laundry tutorials on the internet.
6. Your clothes will get dirty again
This is an excuse that I’d expect from a small child not a functioning adult. It’s something you told your mom growing up thinking she’d let you get out of doing your chores.
It’s time to grow up. It’s time to man up and take responsibility of your life. Nobody will babysit you anymore. You just have to suck it up and clean your clothes.
7. Somebody used to do your laundry
Your mom probably used to clean, iron and fold your clothes for you. She always used the best products and you always had a clean pair of clothes to put on every day.
Unfortunately those days are long gone. You can’t go back and have to deal with your own problems if you truly want to be a functioning adult.
Do you have any other reason for not doing laundry? Do you think that your reason is valid to warrant you to have smelly clothes?
